burning leaves...

when the basement is full of empty cardboard boxes and the yard is full of leaves, you know scott rushton is going to get out the matches. and the gasoline.
it's no ordinary task for a man who spent quite some time making things blow up for the camera. that's right... my dad was a special effects man.
the sonic booms that echo off the side of the house and through the woods make you think some drastic life ending event has just occurred. but, don't you fret... it's just dad. burning leaves.

Some think it odd.

Some just giggle or grin,

But we don’t think it’s Christmas,

Unless it’s runnin’ down our chins.

A Christmas burger,

Not for any regular fellow,

Because, not only is it the size of your face,

But it’s topped with all things,

Reds, greens, purples, and yellows.

Some think it odd,

Some may giggle or grin,

But we don’t think it’s Christmas,

Unless it’s runnin’ down our chins.

The meat, consisting of our family secret,

Is so juicy it drips.

You can always remember the taste,

If you can’t, just take a look at your hips.

Some think it odd,

Some may giggle or grin,

But we Rushtons don’t think it’s Christmas,

Unless it’s runnin’ down our chins.

a good weekend at the end of a long semester

this past weekend was the end of our fall semester- it was full of things to do and places to be.

fAlpha Kappa Sigma's 5th bi-annual "last supper" was held on thursday night at "mi puebchito" in searcy. we did our gift exchange, and sat there giggling and going on about the past semester. every time we make it someone's birthday, in may it was mine, thursday was jared watson's. he was very surprised, and not nearly as embarrassed as i was.

jared watson got me the golden compass and i am so excited to get to read it. he wrote on the inside that i can only read it during chapel or bible class... hahaha! jared cook got me trouble- and i was so excited! we sat in the student center afterward and played a very intense game.
friday morning april and i woke up and sold some books back and i sent her on her way to texas.

jared watson and i had lunch at the cookie basket and went to hastings to be "bookstore people." we rented waitress which we later watched at gene and beckie's, where we spent the night, after the rehearsal dinner for our friends chase and amanda's wedding. saturday, we went to casa brava with gene and beckie for lunch, and then were on our way to the wedding. after the wedding, which was very nice, jared and i went back to school for the basketball game- where we won by 40.

after the game, jared and i drove to memphis to stay at his house. at one in the morning, when we got to memphis, jared- still in his wedding attire of suit coat and button down- made me half a pb&j. one of the cutest things ever? why yes, i think so. after church on sunday morning, jared and i went to a yummy yummy make your own burrito place called blue coast burrito, which i am currently on the hunt for in nashville. after burritos we saw atonement, which was fantastic. got back to jared's to pack my stuff- said my goodbye, got in the car, and drove away, crying. jared isn't coming back to harding in the spring, which is very heartbreaking. i'm so proud of him though. he's so wonderful.

so, today, after decorating the christmas tree, i checked my grades on pipeline. i did really well this semester. i'm proud of myself. only one c- in world lit of all classes. got an unexpected b in bible(was really expecting to fail the class), a b in ceramics 2, a b in three-dimensional design, a b in photography, and an a in printmaking 1.

so- that brings my 2.98 gpa, which took away my scholarship to a 3.01 which gives it back!
my birthday is in 2 days and i'm very excited. i'll be 21 this year. crazy. i'm getting old.

good ridance.

it's finally over.
the semester from hell is finally over.
never again do i have to take 18 or more hours.
never again do i have to stress out over having too many hours and too many classes.
never again do i have to have ed meyers or larry hunt.
no more fall 2007.
it's finally over.
